Change Plan upon Move

vor einem Monat

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if it's possible to update my contract to a glasfaser one. I'm moving to a new flat and can carry over my current contract with Telekom, but I'd prefer to be able to upgrade, as I'm on DSL right now. I wonder if I will have to stay with my current plan as I'm possibly still within the 24 months contract.

      Hi @Edgar13,

thank you for the brief phone call. It was so fun talking to you, and I'm happy that I was able to answer all of your questions.

In order to book the move, just log into your customer center, select your current plan, and click on Umzug (move). You should be able to select the new fiber optic plan after inserting your new address.

Our router Speedport Smart 4 has two versions: one is plain, and one is called "Speedport Smart 4 Plus," which has an integrated modem, which you'll need to get a fiber connection. You can check that on the bottom of your router. If it just says Speedport Smart 4, you'll have to buy an external modem.

To activate your new fiber plan once you've moved in, we will provide you with a personalised registration link via SMS. Make sure your router is installed correctly and just follow the step-by-step instructions provided there. You'll be all set then. 😊

      Best regards

      Jonas

Hello @Jonas W., I was trying to follow up, but I have two unexpected findings:

      • The move page tells me the new address has available 50mb down, when I was under the impression that Glasfaser is available.
      • I am unable to login to my Telekom customer portal, as I don't remember the password, or the security question answer to recover the password..

If you would be so kind as to help me with both these issues, I'd be very grateful.

      Hello @Johannes P.

Thank you, this worked out great, and we were able to order the move and upgrade to fiber.

There are, however, a couple subsequent challenges:

      • We're moving on the 16th of March, however the (fiber?) installation can't be scheduled for before the 24th
      • The fiber installation to the new building can only be finished on the 26th

I guess my questions would be:

      • Can I use DSL until the fiber optic installation? Would I need an intervention from Telekom for that?
      • If the Telekom visit is scheduled for the 24th, but fiber completion for 26th, does that imply that the first visit is not for fiber installation?
      • Does that mean that there would have to be a subsequent visit to the property?

Thank you for the help so far!

      Hello @Edgar13

The fiber installation will take place on March 24th. Normally later on the same day you will get an email with a link for the activation of your fiber connection.

Who said to you that it can only be finished on the 26th? Was it your landlord?

The DSL contract is active until the fiber contract will be activated, but not on your new address.

Actually on your new address it is not possible to order a normal DSL contract, as the building is already connected with fiber.

For the one week between your move and the installation of the fiber socket, I could send you free data if anyone in your family has a private Telekom mobile contract.

      Best regards Inga Kristina
