Apex Legends (PC Game) Packet Loss with Telekom
vor 3 Jahren
Hello,
English speaker here.
I've read over the Telekom forums of packet loss problems with EA and Telekom.
I have the packet loss issue with Apex Legends on PC.
I see this problem has been ongoing now since 2019.
I wonder how has this not been fixed?
Can I cancel my contract because it is ridiculously bad.

Get in touch with the EA guys and try to cancel your contract for the Apex Legends.

I am not sure if this is something every Telekom customer experiences, I also play Apex Legends and had never package loss, except if i play over WiFi and therefore i am always playing through LAN.

Could you send us some Screenshots of traceroutes to the server? You can make the tracerouts via WinMTR.
Kind Regards, Isabel M.

Hello,
I've attached all the EU servers for this game and did a quick WinMTR test.
Thanks,

You can fix the issue by using a gaming-affine VPN (example: NordVPN) - works like a charm, but it sucks to pay something extra just to have a proper connection for sure.

Yes, same answers seen from 2019/2020 forum threads. From research, it appears Telekom are charging double costs for peering to servers to get "high priority packets" which other ISPs are not. Hence why EA or other services refuse to pay for this "premium" service as everyone knows its a straight money grab.
And Telekom asks the customer to instead pay for a VPN to fix the issue? What a joke!
Will not recommend this ISP to anyone and will spread the word of the dirty Telekom business around forums, friends and others

The question is which ISP one can generally recommend for online gaming.
The answer is: none.
And if a specific game works today with a specific ISP then you cannot count on that it will work tomorrow.
And vice versa.
