Getting a Hybrid 5G on my existing landline contract

So, I am in a bit of a furstrating situation. Tried reaching out to Telekom on multiple channels, no help yet.

 

Context

  • I got a new contract when I moved apartments for landline internet.
  • The highest speed available is 100 Mbps (and in Mitte ... sigh).
  • The said Glassfiber would arrive in the area very soon. Alas, speaking to the building owners it seems that they have no intention of adding it as they already have high speed internet via cable.
  • I need higher bandwidth for work than I work from home. Figured Hybrid 5G is an option.

 

I contacted Telekom via chat and in the shops. Both came to the same conclusion that I need to wait 2 years before I can get it as I have an active contract. And there is no way for me to "add-on" a Hybrid 5G connection, even though that is literally advertised as an add-on.

What are my options here? As a customer, this is beyond frustrating. I am not even trying to end the contract, all I want is to add on a new service to it.

      Hi @nulltermination.

      I just could see that the necessary steps have been taken,

      so your landline connection with hybrid option will be switched on 11.05.2023.

      Thanks for checking @Martin Bo. ! Hopefully everything should go smoothly from here. Will reopen if any issue pop up with the workaround.

      So, looks like this is an issue with the Telekom order system.  What lead me onto this was the fact that the issue seems to be that the system cannot do a tarrif change from Magenta Zuhausse L to Magenta Zuhausse L (with Hybrid add-on) as it considers it to be the of the same level I guess.

      You can go to tarif change and select Magenta Zuhausse M (50 Mbps) with Hybrid 5G . This will allow you change your tariff to the Hybrid option. I did not finalise this, so not really sure what impact it will have if you upgrade it again to 100 Mbps.

      The post at [2] has direct links to purchase just an add-on for your connection. I have submited the order for this and I hope it will just get provisioned without issue. (Fingers crossed).

      If  a Teamie has an input here, it would be very much appreciated.
