Glassfiber network ping and jitter is horrible
vor 4 Stunden
I recently made a move from Vodafone Cable 100 Mbps to Telekom GlassFiber (150 Mbps) + SpeedPort 7 router. I am a software engineer working mostly from home and need to have stable internet for work and for gaming. My Vodafone Cable was very stable and good but because GlassFiber was available at my location so I made the switch thinking it would be better for my work and gaming. But ever since I moved to GlassFiber, I am facing issues. My ping is unstable and my internet is pathetic. I raised the concerns about this but I am getting no resolutions so far.
I might lose my job if this continues. I am feeling so bad because of this internet. And I regret moving to Telekom from Vodafone. Here are some screenshots of the misery I face on daily basis. Please note the jitter and ping spikes.

How did you measure the ping?
It seems like Wifi ?

There are multiple ways to check that. You can try doing a ping test on any chosen server on this website.

Or you can also check it via any wifi analyzer apps on your device.

Hello @shivam and welcome to our Telekom hilft Community.
Is @Marius AD right, that the check was done via Wi-Fi? Can you deposit a callbacknumber in your profile and name a timeframe, when you are available for a call, so we can have a closer look at the connection?
Kind regards Sven

Yes. I use a Macbook for my work. I did the test on wifi. I am assuming that the band was 5Ghz. One of the biggest drawbacks of Speedport 7 routers is that they don't give user any option to change settings in the router like Band Steering, Channel Updation, etc.
@Sven Ö. Done. Thank you for your reply. You could reach out to me tomorrow between 09:00 am to 10:00 am.

Surprisingly there seems to be a pattern that every 7th ping spikes. Any idea why this is happening? Is it the same pattern if you connect via LAN?

t is the same pattern when I do this test with LAN.
It is the same pattern when I do this test with LAN. However, my Vodafone internet used to be very stable. If you could see the jitter and max ping here in this test I did with my Vodafone cable internet.
The latest screenshot looks much better though: Maximum ping, average ping and jitter all went down significantly. What if you change the test server? Can you try one within Telekom for the sake of reducing external effects.

Yes. The graph looks better because it was done with the Vodafone Cable Wifi. I can change the test server. But I live in Germany. The server I usually interact on daily basis is in Frankfurt. Thats why I do every baseline testing with Frankfurt server. It won't be a good argument if I do Vodafone testing on nearby server and Telekom testing on a far away server. Similarly, not a good thing vice-versa.

My bad, I didn't see that the screenshot was Vodafone. But still, as you are in IT, a proper way forward would be to reduce complexity. I.e. test Telekom fiber via LAN cable (to exclude WIfi as potential source of issues) and use a Telekom test server (to exclude your test server's connectivity with Telekom).
That test could be done in 2 minutes if you have a cable. Then please provide screenshot.
