PPPoE connection using EasyBox 904 xDSL running OpenWRT
vor 4 Jahren
Good morning, everyone!
I'm new to the community and I need some help that I believe you fellas can help me with.
I have a EasyBox 904 xDSL running the last snapshot of OpenWRT available for it which in theory allows me to connect through any ISP , and I want to use it as my router, setting my Speedport W925V as a DSL-MODEM (bridge mode).
The thing is: I don't know exactly how to setup the PPPoE connection inside the OpenWRT, where do I find my login credentials (something like user@t-online.de)?
I already went to the Telekom Kundencenter and found some access information, which the username is some numbers and the password I can't see, only change it.
I'm aware of the VLAN tagged with ID 7 setting and I'm also looking forward to create it.
My only thing now is to find the right way to authenticate with the Telekom network.
Some foot notes: I already tested DSL-MODEM mode in Speedport and the EasyBox's WAN interface logs shows that it wasn't able to connect due to the lack of credentials. (I can reproduce this and post the logs with this helps somehow).
I have also tested getting internet in the EasyBox's WAN over DHCP from the Speedport acting as router and it works flawlessly.
Once I get it work as desire I'll create a how-to guide, as I'm having difficulties finding clear information about this process.
Thanks in advance!

You should have gotten the dial-in credentials with the paperwork for your account. If you don't have them anymore, you can go to the online self service website ("Kundencenter") and request new credentials:
https://kundencenter.telekom.de/kundencenter/kundendaten/passwoerter/index.html
You can choose if you want the new credentials via snail mail or email. In the case of email, the credentials will be mailed in an encrypted .zip file, the encryption key is sent to your mobile number as a text message.
Alternatively, you can activate the "easy login" feature, which lets you dial in without any credentials at all, the network will identify you by your line. Please be aware that this is less secure, especialy if you live in an environement where others could get access to your phone wires.
Easy login can be activated here:
https://kundencenter.telekom.de/kundencenter/anschluss-tarif/internet-einstellungen/easylogin/index.html

Thinking about it, there may be another problem:
In many cases, Telekom dial in credentials do not consist of a plain username and passwort. Instead, you may have gotten an "Anschlusskennung", "Zugangsnummer" and "Mitbenutzer" and a passwort.
Telekom's own routers have dedicated fields for these items but any router coming not from DT will just ask for a username. In this case, you need to put the pppoe username together. This is described here:
https://telekomhilft.telekom.de/t5/Telefonie-Internet/PPPOE-Einwahl-ueber-einen-Router-herstellen/ta-p/3654990
Unfortunately, this description is available in German language only. Let me know if you have difficulties with the instructions, maybe I can help with some translations.

Hi! That's exactly what I'm looking for!
Thanks for you quick response.
I'll do as explained for you and also follow the instructions in the links you gave me.
I already got the credentials and I saw how to use it to log in using PPPoE.
I'll tray it asap and I'll let you know.
Thanks again for your help until now!

It´s been a long time, but it did work. But the device wasn't able to handle the connection smoothly.
I appreciate the time you spent helping me, it really helped me.
Best regards,
