Connect glass fiber to router

vor 2 Jahren

Hello,

I got my new glass fiber modem, and for 3 days now trying to get it working with my router -tp link tl-wr841nd- with no luck. I tried using PPPoE with the username and password I received by email, but it still can't connect or read an IP.

I have a stable green signal from the Modem, could it be that the modem is not activated? I used the activation link, but now I suspect that I might have a supplied a wrong modem Id or something!

Tried calling the support many times, but doesn't seem anyone can help there.

    You need the latest firmware.

And either you find a VLAN 7 entry - or s.th. like "activate IPTV " - or you might fail

    Hey.
the tp link tl-wr841nd only got 10/100 Mbps LAN Ports and normally cannot be used for Fiber Access.
Anyway if there is no option to choose VLAN 7, it wont work at all.

One problem with products from that company is that the typically issue the very same model with different versions, and it is not clear which version this thread is about.

    There are in total 11 versions of the 841ND model - v1, v2, ... , v11 - with in total s.th. like 11 different latest firmware versions.

Spending time on getting that thing up and running I would probably only do with v11 or v10
