Solved
Extremely Slow Internet Speed
Dear members,
Greetings.
Currently I am having Magenta zuhause S plan and for my limited needs it was working quite fine unitil Saturday (06.10) afternoon.
However, since Saturday evening, the internet has been extremely slow to the extent that although I do receive push notifications etc. on my mobile device, I cannot do anything more than that. A webpage take ages to load. Even Telekom home page won"t load properly. Situation is same irrespective of LAN or a VLAN.
Speedtest doesn't show much of a change (attached the image of two runs - one with VLAN and the other one with LAN), with download speed in the range of 12 Mbps.
I did a factory reset of the router as well, but to no avail.
My router model is Speedport W724V Type A, with up-to-date firmware. It's approx. 4.5 years old.
With help of my colleague, I did call up the customer care but no fruitful results. Technical team member did some connectivity tests and said everything is normal with proper speeds and so on and so forth. So that didn't help much.
So right now, there are two possible scenarios that comes to my mind:
1. My router may have suddenly stopped working to its full potential - I can potentially buy a new router, but I read somewhere that Telekom can provide me with a substitute router which I can use to run a test. Is it valid or are there other ways to confirm that router is indeed the root of my current problem.
2. There is a general outage in the region (I did heard about similar outages affecting couple of other service providers in a radius of 15 KMs). But again for one of them (vodafone), services have resumed.
I would appreciate if someone could guide me regarding the next steps.
Thanks for reading.
Regards,
Arup

Well, actually from the speedtest result I cannot deduct any problems of the kind that you have.
Some Telekom shops may have a router that possibly they can lend you - just get in touch and do ask.
Does your mobile device show the mentioned problems as well (or not) if you see friends and use their WLAN?
Possibly a Telekom employee can find out more about your problem, looks like you have filled your forum profile with the info needed.

Sure muc80337_2. Thanks for the tip. I will check with the Telekom shop in my area.

I didn't check with my mobile device. However, at my work location, my laptop works absolutely fine over company VLAN. It's just a problem with my home network (LAN as well as VLAN).
Let's hope my problem catches attention of one of the company representatives over here and they can further guide.

Okay, latest update.
The network seems to be back on track. So in the end, it could have been a regional issue as I thought. I will keep an eye on how it goes for next few days.
So I guess my router still has some juice to last for few more days or weeks or years, may be.
Thanks for reading my post. Cheers.
Regards.
