Fiber optics connection in house with full Hausanschluss
2 years ago
Hello!
I'm renting a flat in a house that has fiber optic connection - there's Hausanschluss in the basement. However, there's no cable to my flat.
Since I asked house owner about getting a stable connection, I was told to get a fiber optics contract, and that there's already Telekom optics in the house, and "probably one free socket". However, after I booked a contract, it turned out that there are no free sockets (out of 4, according to what I've been told).
Now I'm not sure how things can proceed from this point, and if I should wait or cancel booking and start searching for alternatives.
Is it possible that not all bandwidth is used, and box with higher amount of ports can be installed?
Will I be offered to cover costs for expanding bandwidth? Or is there some other approach for such situations?
Sorry for using English, but my German is only B1 yet.

Hey @Brezelntorte,
if there are not enough ports on the Hausanschluss, it has to be extended. If there are enough ports, only the line to your flat is needed.
Both Problems could be solved by making a contract, then our technical department will check extension of the Hausanschluss and connection to your flat.
You said you already made a contract, what did the colleagues told you to? Is your order still active?
Kind regards Patrik

Hi @Patrik K. ,
I've booked a contract through check24, currently it shows as "Auftrag in Bearbeitung". I'll add provided number to my profile.
I've checked my address through Telekom website too, and it mentioned that there's optics in the house, and that connection can take up to 2nd October.
I've also asked workers at Telekom office, but they said that I should wait for processing without any technical details about bandwidth.
Best regards

I have received e-mail with confirmation from Telekom, and appointment choice too. However, it says that house was connected yesterday, while house owner haven't heard anything about additional connections to the house being installed, so I'm still confused about this situation.

Okay, so regarding the information: could you order a plan on www.telekom.de/festnetz?
Otherwise someone has to check the status of the Hausanschluss extension.
Kind regards, Patrik

Hello @Brezelntorte,
again, I didn't reach you. I'll try to answer your questions here.
So, the glass fiber is very thin and does not need much space, but it's sensitive. If the cable channels are not empty, that would be okay, as long as the fiber doesn't have to be stuffed in there.
And another point is that it can't be bended much. So the cable channels shouldn't have narrow curves.
For the Glasfaserdose you should plan a space of about 12x12 cm. But it cannot be placed very near to the floor. The glass fiber cable is inserted into the bottom side of the Glasfaserdose, and it should not be bended too much, so there's some space needed underneath.
Kind regards Inga Kristina J.

Hello @Brezelntorte,
I'm very sorry that nobody from our team has answered here yet.
I guess that the information about the shortage of ports was concerning DSL and not the fiber optic connection.
If the house is connected with fiber optic, but the apartment is not, then it's the right way to order a new contract. This order ensures that the technical requirements for connecting the apartment are established. For this work an appointment will be made. I guess that has already happened.
Depending the bandwidth, you can get all tariffs up to 1000 MBit/s.
I can call you tomorrow or the following week if you still have questions depending your order.
Kind regards Inga Kristina J.
