Glasfaser modem and router
vor 4 Jahren
Hello
First of all, I am sorry that I am writing in English because my German is not so good and translation tools can sometimes translate incorrectly.
Construction for fiberoptic internet has begun in my area, and in the coming months I will have 1 Gbit fiber connection at my home. My question is, do I have to use Telekom provider router and fiber modem (Speedport 4 Plus or Speedport Pro Plus and fiber modem), or can I use below products?
AmpliFi Alien Router – Ubiquiti Store Europe as router and UFiber WiFi6 GPON CPE – Ubiquiti Store Europe as fiber modem.

you can use any compatible Router and/or modem, as long as you are able to configure it by yourself

Superb, so Telekom doesn't put restriction on modems. Do I need a special username or special configuration for Telekom fiber or regular router and modem configuration is enough? I mean, I will put fiberoptic cable to fiber modem, and then configure modem and router according to my home network requirements, yes?
One more question, if I don't buy modem and router from Telekom, will Telekom bring fiber connection cable to my flat or they will just connect to the main building and leave it there, like main box for DSL cables.

It depends on which connection variant your fiber optic connection is.
For older installations, an identifier must be entered in the modem, which you can find out here from the team. This is required in addition to the normal connection data that is entered in the router. In addition, a re-discover on the Telekom side is necessary so that the OLT accepts the modem. The team can organize that too.
With newer installations you will receive a link with which you can activate the modem.
The router must be configured to VLAN 7 and PPPoE and must be able to do this without errors.
