I wanted a new Telekom fiber optic contract last year. I entered my address on Telekom website and it (still) says that the building is connected to the fiber link - FTTH . I called and discussed via chat and was told the building is connected.

Good, then I signed the contract and arranged for the installation to take place on December 23rd, 2025. 

The tehnician from Telekom came, only to observe the fiber optic box was not installed properly, but right next to the heating system of the building and refused to do any further installation on grounds of fire hazard. He then told me I need to contact Telekom about this, because he cannot help further.

I then called Telekom, and they told me that January 26th 2026 is the next date when they can come and install the fiber optic box properly.

Me: What do I do in the meanwhile, because I don't have internet and was expecting installation to occur today.

Telekom: Well, you can ask your friends for an unlimited SIM card or you can pay 60 EUR/month for an unlimited plan from us.

Me: Who's to blame for the improper installation of the fiber optic box, even though on your website, it shows installed?

Telekom: Well, it's a company we work with. 

Me: So why do I have to pay for your mistakes?

Telekom: Ok we can provide Magenta Zuhause Schenllstart as a temporary solution for you.

Later that evening, I went to grab the Schnellstart from a Telekom Shop.

A few days later, I started to test it and the small Huawei modem (any security concerns??), and the speed is quite slow.

As a comparison, my Samsung S23 Ultra, with also a Telekom SIM pulls 200-300 Mbps, while this modem does 60-70 Mbps.

Anticipating this, I got a Telekom Speedport Pro Plus from a friend. As it turns out, the SIM card I was provided in the Schenllstart package doesn't work with the Speedport Pro Plus. 

I then called Telekom, with the hope that they can provision this SIM card to actually work with the Speedport Pro Plus. After a few hours, the conclusion is that they cannot help me with anything (free of charge).

This Magenta Zuhause Schenllstart feels like a joke and I find this incredibly frustrating and unprofessional, and I'm here, asking for a second option and an alternative solution, because now I'm stuck with a 60 GB plan every 3 months with a 60-70 Mbps, which like I said, it's slower than my goddamn phone.

I am expecting that on January 26th, some other issue occurs and this installation keeps getting prolonged.

      The building owner is responsible for the electrical installation. He, and only he, determines where the connection may be installed. What does the owner say about this?

      Totally understandable, but here, someone made a big mistake during the initial setup. In my view, since Telekom is the owner of this infrastructure, they should own their mistake, and not falsely advertise that they have FTTH already installed. It's currently installed badly and cannot be used!!!

      Hello @telekom-problem,

      I have just had a closer look into your case.
      The installation is indeed on hold due to a potential fire hazard, if it were to go ahead in the current state and position of the infrastructure. In order to rectify that and move the fiber's point of entry into the building as well as the distribution box, a new appointment is required. Unfortunately, we are currently unable to reach your landlord to make such an appointment. We will keep trying and inform you as soon as further steps can be taken.

      I believe there's a significant misunderstanding! I was informed in several calls I had with customer support that the date of January 26th has been arranged to make the new activation. Now I see that this is no longer the case and that this date was not in fact agreed or was potentially changed? What is happening?

      Everyone seems to be avoiding to answer me to this though. I was informed that January 26th was the date ALREADY AGREED with the landlord. Apparently, that was a lie or misinformation since now you're saying there is no appointment yet made and you're trying to make one now. So, which one is it?

      Deutsche Telekom is not in duty to get in contract with you. You can always try somewhere else and see if they are faster :)

      No the contract begins with the delivery day told in your oder confirmation. If the installation is not successfull, the delivery day changes and so does the beginning of the contract.

      But i agree with you when you sign a contract you won't sign another one, at least not before getting a proper cancellation. 

      What i was trying to tell you is that

      1. If there is not active contract you don't have the same rights as someone who is in proper contractual relationship with their ISP .

      2. Deutsche Telekom also have an interest in getting the job done because they won't get any money from you before.
