My contract expires on 01.06.2025 and I have opted to move to Glasfaser contract but there is no connection yet

Hello everyone,

As the title says, my current MagentaZuhauseXL contract expires on 01.06.2025.

I have been contacted by Telekom and was offered a Glasfaser upgrade in October/November last year. I asked about when will the Glasfaser connection be available, and the gentleman said that it should be available beginning of 2025 (around April).

Now I am looking at the Glasfaser portal, and it says that the connection would be available in December 2026, and could be delayed until April 2027.

What happens now? Will I be on an "interim" contract until the Glasfaser contract can be executed? Can I cancel the old contract and wait for the Glasfaser installation, or would that cancel the free fiber installation too?

I want to stay with Telekom, but to pay the current monthly fee for the same DSL connection and speed, and not benefit from a cheaper new contract elsewhere, is problematic.

Thanks for your answers in advance!

I'm sorry that the fiber optics expansion is being delayed.

I'm more than happy to answer all your questions and take a look at your fiber optics order.

I don't want to disturb you on a holiday.

Please let me know when you are available.

      Hi @Belana M. ,

Thanks a lot for the quick response.

Can you please schedule a call back for tomorrow at 10 a.m. in English?

Would it be a problem if I go for termination, even though the "Spätester Kündigungseingang" is 1. Mai 2025?

      Best regards.

      Hello @TheNooBPRO,

yes. We will get back to you tomorrow around 10 am. 😊

The latest cancellation date is simply the end of your contract term. If you submit a cancellation, it will take effect on that date.

      Kind regards

Have you actively cancelled it ("Kündigung")? Otherwise it will change to a different contract status where there is no more minimum duration, can be terminated within one month.

      Hi @Jonas W.

Wow, I need to look into that. Thanks for pointing it out. Did you call me on my mobile number or the landline? I do not have a landline telephone, so maybe that's why.

Ah, okay, I got it, so the two contracts are not actually linked. That was a misunderstanding on my part. Thanks a lot for clearing it out.

      Kind regards.

      Hi everyone :),

One more question. My wife wants to make a new Telekom internet contract in her name to replace mine. She has a Telekom mobile contract. Would she be considered a new Telekom customer for internet? She is trying to get advantage of the Check24 offers and stay in the Telekom network since it worked nicely for us.

      Kind regards.

      Hello again :)

The fibre cable was finally laid out this week, and I received an SMS regarding the activation and the start of the contract this month. There was no contact from Telekom regarding the existing DSL contract (MagentaZuhauseXL DSL, ends mid-2027).

      I have a few questions/requests:

      1. We opted in early for the Glasfaser switch, but this whole process has taken almost 2 years to complete. Since then, there have been new contract offers from Telekom with better prices and even including the Modem for free. My contract is significantly more expensive (45 euros a month on average vs around 30 for the same Glasfaser 300) and only includes a 100-euro cashback. Is it possible to receive an up-to-date offer with better pricing? If not, since I received a new Auftragsbestätigung today, can I still cancel the contract now and switch to Glasfaser later, when the MagentaZuhauseXL expires?
      2. Can we cancel my wife's MagentaZuhauseXL now and not pay twice for the current and following months? If that is not possible, can we postpone the start date of the Glasfaser connection?

      Good morning @TheNooBPRO,

my colleague @Johannes P. already forawrded your case to the specific team, that can handle the cancellation. We can not, since the original activation date for your order already lies in the past. At which point our system does not allow us to cancle the order. It has not been cancalled yet. Our colleagues are working on that.

Regarding your first point: As I said previously: As long as you do not use the activation link, the fiber connection will not be activated. That applies to both, your order, as well as the one made under your wife's name.

I would, however, like to add two things:

      1. The monthly rate of the new fiber contract is actually cheaper than the one for your wife's current DSL connection.

      2. If you only switch to fiber after the end of the minimum run time of the current DSL connection, you will still have another full 24 months of new minimum run time for the fiber contract at that point. Meaning, the "overall" minimum runtime with a switch to fiber would be shorter, if you were to switch now as opposed to switching at a later point in time.

The fiber expansion at your address itself is indeed free of charge.

      Kind regards
      Jonas

Thanks, @Jonas Bl. I've sent a Widerruf for the wife's upgrade contract, and I've now received cancellation confirmations for both contracts.

To be clear about the cancellations, the issue was the timing/pricing against our existing DSL contract, not fibre itself. We do want to move over, and the connection is installed at the building.

Could someone give me a call to talk through more options for a switch to Glasfaser 300? My details are in my forum profile, and I'm free any weekday. I proposed two options in the Widerruf email for my wife's contract, which are more sensible for making the switch.

Thanks for your patience with this post. It's been a long thread.

      Good evening @TheNooBPRO,

my apologies for the delayed response.
I will gladly look into this together with you. Unfortunately, I will not be in office tomorrow. I will, however, be back on Saturday and will call you during your preferred time frame.

      Kind regards
      Jonas
