Possibility of using a router behind SpeedPort Pro
3 years ago
Hello,
Mostly just looking for some clarification after reading some conflicting information online.
Basically I want to know if there is any limitation involved with using another router behind a Speed Port Pro (Hybird LTE ), I know that offloading DHCP is easy enough, however read some issues in relation to allowing a 2nd router to handle other functions, such as DNS.
Ideally I basically want the Speed Port Pro to only provide internet access and do no other features.
Appriciated!
Jess

Speedport Pro does not provide any facilities to help with that, no bridge mode, no DMZ and as it seems no IPv6 prefix delegation either. So you'd be stuck with IPv4 double NAT and whatever you chose to make IPv6 work. Either way, it is going to be ugly.

That's not great, but thank you for the clarification.
I think I may bite the bullet and try and suffer through a double NAT. Only thing I can think of that will be an issue with it is the Port Forwarding, but I think double forwarding through the two routers should suffice for my needs.
Regards,
Jess.

@Suhnon : I have been using dual NAT for years because I run a firewall behind the router and there are no problems, not even with forwarding of ports twice. The router's LAN is more or less a DMZ in which I test customers' PCs and servers. At time IPv6 at is not used in my personal infrastructure.
