Speedport 4 - Unifi Cloud Gateway

Hello dear members,

I have a big issue that I am currently facing.

I set my Speeport as a modem, in order to connect a different router in my home - Cloud Gateway Max.

Together with Unifi support, we tried to setup the CGW in offline mode, and use PPPoE authentication (as the Telekom router also uses), and cloning the MAC address of the Speedport, however we could not connect to the Internet at all.

To narrow things down, I connected my laptop directly to the LAN port of the Speeport (in modem mode), and tried setting up a new connection from the laptop using PPPoE, which also failed to connect. (Username and password, triple checked, of course).

We checked the logs from the Cloud Gateway, and found out that the ISP is not responding to the requests coming from the CGW.

At this point, I was directed towards Telekom support, who told me that the issue is out of scope, as they do not support other routers.

I explained that the issue is not related to the CGW, but the Speedport itself, as it's failing to answer to authentication requests.

Has anybody ever faced this issue before?

Any help is much appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Did you set VLAN 7 for your PPPoE WAN ?

I‘d also remove the MAC address cloning, that seems counter productive.

I now see that when setting up the CGW, I have the option to assign a VLAN ID, but how do I know what VLAN ID does the router have on the WAN port?

I managed to make it work. Thank you for your suggestion.

The issue was that I did not select VLAN 7 for the PPPoE connection, as you mentioned.

      A million thanks!
