Speedport smart 4

Will this router work with non-fiber optic wires? If so will there be any big downsides? At the moment my house only has normal Telekom wires installed. Any help is appreciated!

      Hi @Dewulf_

the Speedport Smart 4 is designed to work on (S)VDSL-Lines up to 250 mbit/s. So yes. It will work.

Sounds like you will get Fibre-Connection in the Future? Then you could use the "Speedport Smart 4 Plus". This one has a build-in Fibre-Modem and can be used directly on the Fibre-Line. The "Speedport Smart4" (without "Plus") requires a separate fibre modem for that.

If you mean DSL via copper: yes, it will. Like a charm.

Hello @Dewulf_ and welcome to the community,

as @RoadrunnerDD and @teezeh have already written, the Speedport Smart 4 is perfectly compatible to all non-fiber landlines.
If you intend to get a fiber-landline, you should take the Speedport Smart 4 Plus.

      Kind regards

@Malte M. I have ordered the 250 Mbps Magenta Home XL. I know the Speedport Smart 4 works but does the Speedsport Smart 4 Plus also works with copper DSL? Just to be a bit future proof, if I later on have fiber in my area and wanna upgrade. Does it work?
