Very slow internet connection

Hello.

I have issue with Internet connection. It's stable but very very slow.

I use internet for the work, gaming and a lot of different things, so I need stable and fast internet. I have your wired internet and also I have mobile router from O2 purely as a contingency. So I can compare and here what I see. I'm paying you almost twice as much, and I get twenty times slower speed (sic!) on cable. Both routers I use through WiFi.

So why this happens? Can you do something with this?

      As discussed, the internet speed is still very low even after our attempts to solve the problem. On Thursday, 21.03.2024 between 8 am - 12 pm, a technician will come by and take care of the malfunction.

      Hello,

      I have similar issue where wifi speed dropped to 1Mbps and it doesn't recover with an HP laptop. But same laptop has good wifi speeds with other routers.
      Any suggestions, please as the technician who visited last time has no clue about the issue?

      Which device do you use? How did you measure the speed? Did you look it up the status menu of the router?

      Good evening @sven O,

       

      Thanks for your response. I use SpeedPort Smart4 TypeB wifi router which is connected to a 5G extension (Magenta Zu Hybrid system)

      Problem is with HP elite note book and speed is 1Mpbs measured from google speed test.

       

      Unfortunately, today some technician replaced only the SpeePort Smart router but still problem exists. Now not sure if 5G extension LTE device is at fault or what is the reason for this slow speed.

      Please advise and if you have any further inputs.

      Hello @sven , Please find my profile data updated and help me resolve the issue?
      Since I was travelling couldn't update requested data earlier.

      Also, the Telekom support team replaced router HW and it doesn't resolve speed issue still with one particular HP Elite book laptop. 

      Seems like issue is with 5G extension device and not sure if they can replace it or any other feasible solution exists?

      Please advise.

      Hello @Vinay Ram,

       

      it might be that the laptop has a problem with the WPA2/WPA3 mode of the wifi. There are some devices that have difficulties with that. 

       

      Please log into the menu of the router (http://speedport.ip) and go to the point "network". There you can change the mode from WPA2/WPA3 to WPA2. 

      Is the performance better then?

      Thanks for the feedback. I tried changing network to use "WPA2 secure" encryption type option, but still speed issue exists on this HP Elite laptop.

      Please advise.

      by the looks of it, it seems more of channel and frequency issue at least thats what I am gathering from the last few statements. 

      I'd prefer to further discuss this matter over the phone? Would that be possible for you?

      unfortunately @Christian Ha. is not here this weekend. 

       

      I don't really know what was his idea to solve this problem.

      I guess it might be an issue of the wifi driver in the laptop. But that's out of our support, this is more a question for the HP support then. 

       

      If you connect this laptop with a network cable, just for a try, does it get the full speed then?

      Hello,
      I have already tried below methods and seems like issue is with 5G extension and its setup.

      1. Replaced wifi card in laptop but didn't solve the problem.

      2. New wifi router Smart 4 Typ B was tried, but still same issue exists.

      3. Previously online the router settings of the 5G extension was changed by customer service using diagnose, and then speed improved to 25Mpbs

      4. Again the router settings was reset while diagnose online after two weeks, and from then on the speed dropped to 1Mpbs with this one HP elite laptop.

      5. So either someone who did settings in step3 has to recheck or replace 5G extension by visiting the home. Please advise

      Hello @Vinay Ram,

       

      but I understand correctly that the speed is okay on all other devices that use the wifi. Only the laptop has problems with the speed, right?

       

      If so, the reason must be located somewhere in the laptop itself.

      How about using a cable connection to the router? Please try this as well.
