Slow Connection

Dear experts,

Thank you in advance for your support.

I recently got Glasfaser 600 plan activated, couple of days ago.

During the first day, I really hit the 600Mbps, but I was having internet outages on regular intervals (Every couple of minutes, for about 30 seconds.) Then I used the "repair connection" functionality of the MagentaApp, and connection issue is solved, and outages stoopped.

However right now, when I check the speed of the connection, I see that it is maxed around 90Mbps, which is way lower than the speed of my actual plan.

I did use the "repair connection" functionality couple of times, but that didn't solve the problem.

Am I missing something? All the connection within the house (router/modem/cables etc.) are okay; so I don't know what is the issue here.

Thank you again for your support, and I wish you a great Sunday!

Kind regards,

It looks like this is not the case. Could be that one of your ethernet connection (router to modem or pc to router) is only working with 100Mbit/s.

      Hello @Jumpignon

      Thank you for your message.

To give you better context, the connection setup/directions I used was:

      (1) Fiber hub > (2) Glassfaser Modem > (3) In-home ethernet cable connection to other rooms >  (4) Speedport Router

I got the 600Mbps with the setup I used above. That is why, I didn't think that step (3) could have caused an issue.

After eliminating step (3), and directly connecting modem with router, the connection speed is now back to 600Mbps. So issue is solved now.

Do you have any idea why I got the actual speed during my first trial though?

      Kind regards,

the only explanation is that some cable/inhouse connection you used broke, therefore the connection went from 1Gbit/s to 100Mbit/s.

Nice to hear that everythink is fine now.

      Hi there @Altug Atas!

Thank you for reaching out. Without having any data, my following assessment of your situation is meant to be taken more as an educated guess than anything else.

To make sure I've understood your description accurately - there is an inhouse ethernet connection between the modem and the router correct?

Does the aforementioned issue regarding the speed happen at all ethernet ports within your residence? If not, it may very well be a faulty connector. My advice here would be to buy a small device which can check ethernet ports and cables for their condition. These devices are pretty inexpensive and on a personal note, should find their way in every toolbox.

If there is anything else I can help you with, please let me know! :)

      Kind regards

      Christian Ha.
