Roaming not working
Hello, I am an expat from the US. I got a telekom esim which I have now activated on my phone. The calling and texting is working great, however the data roaming isn't working. For example if I'm off wifi I can make calls and send texts (even on WhatsApp) but for some reason I'm not able to google things, look up directions, etc. Does anyone have any ideas what the problem may be? I have my US cellular data turned off and data roaming on my telekom plan turned on. Any advice or info on how to access an English speaking Telekom support person would be much appreciated!

Hi, one reason why sometimes Whatsapp messaging works but nothing else on the Internet does is if the data volume allowance is used up and the plan falls back to a couple kbits/s.
Could you try to to access https://pass.telekom.de (while off of wifi) and check how much volume is left in your plan for the month? That site should be accessible even when the rate limit has already kicked in.
The other thing I'd check is the APN on the phone. If it is set to "internet.v6.telekom", I'd change it to "internet.telekom" and try again.
By the way, what model is your phone?
The best way to get English language support from Telekom is probably via the support staff in this community. If you leave your customer ID and your phone number in your community profile, they will call you back. This data can only be viewed by Telekom staff, not by simple members like myself. All we can see is if something has been entered at all.
When they call you, they will want to make sure they are taking to the actual owner of the plan under discussion, therefore they will ask for the last six digits of the bank account number you are paying for the plan from. So it's best to have that number ready.

Thanks so much for your response. I am not able to access pass.telekom.de while off wifi. When I try it just says "Safari cannot open the page because network connection was lost." I have an iphone 14 in case helpful.
I'm not sure I'm able to set the APN . When I go to Settings > Mobile Data I only have the option to select my US number or my new German number. Let me know though if I'm looking in the wrong place for this.

I'm not an iPhone person, so not really qualified to help here (last iPone I used was an iPhone 8).
However, looking at this video from Apple, it seems that you should see both SIMs under Settings -> Cellular. Then when you tap the Telekom SIM (might be called "secondary" in the menu), there should be further options, hopefully including the APN settings.
Then again, most phones (and definitely all iPhones) contain a database of APNs for every carrier, so your phone should know which APN to use with the Telekom SIM. I expect it to use the "internet.v6.telekom" APN , which is IPv6 only and may cause issues with a few applications, but it definitely allows access to pass.telekom.de.
Did you complete the full setup process as described in the video?

Ok I was able to find the APN and switched it to internet.telekom, tried restarting the phone and its still not working and I'm still not able to access pass.telekom.de. Since I can't access that website I wonder if it's a question for Apple support? And yes I completed the full set up process in the video.

Maybe talk to DT support first, just to ensure that everything is allright with your tariff. I'll highlight the thread to the team but give them a few hours, they are usually quite busy.

Hey @hansbue1,
thanks for your tries and also the time frame.
I'm really sorry for the missed call from us during this time.
Due to this I tried it a few moments ago again proactivly without success.
I have also another idea we can try to check.
How is it about the private relay with your iCloud? If it is active please deactivate it and restart your iPhone again. Does it work now?
Friendly regards
Sarah D.
