Glasfaser und Netgear

Hi,
I just moved to Germany and brought my Nighthawk Router with me.
I could not configure it to connect to the modem (fiber), and IT refuses to help, stating I need a new router...
Can I use my Netgear router (as a master router)?
Thanks,

Which Model?
Do you have your PPPoE Account Data and Personal password?
You have to Tag your pppoe wan Interface with vlan id 7.

It's Nighthawk X8.
Yes, I've configured it for pppoe, with the user/pass.
What do you mean vlan I'd 7? Where can I set it?

For future reference: under advanced/VLAN/ IPTV Setup mark Enable VLAN/ IPTV Setup and add vlan id 7

VLAN configuration for internet access does not seem to be mentioned in the downloadable user manual for the Nighthawk X8, but there is a knowledgebase article on the Netgear website dealing with the topic. Maybe it is helpful for you: IPTV -services" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://kb.netgear.com/000059623/How-do-I-configure-my-Nighthawk-router-to-support-Deutsche-Telekom-Internet-and- IPTV -services

Can you elaborate on what you already tried to get the router running and where it fails? Any log entries? Did you configure it to run a PPPoE session via VLAN7? Frankly, I don't know these routers, I only suppose they can be configured this way. If they can't, "IT" is probably right.
