Glass Fibre wrong modem? Glasfaser 600

Hi there, this morning I had a technician come to my house and he installed a small box for the glass fibre, I just signed a Glasfaser 600 contract, he then proceeded to tell me that Telekom had sent me the wrong router which is a Speedport Smart 4 Plus and the mesh combo package so he cant connect it. He told me the internet works find but I have the wrong router? any ideas???

Hi @adampretty, the Glasfaser 600 tariff and the Speedport Smart 4 Plus router should be a pretty much perfect match, I don't see what the problem would be.
Just to be sure: Could you take a picture of the box that was installed und upoad it here?
Also, the Speedport routers are meant to be self installed by the customers. You can have them installed by a technician but that usually costs extra. All you need to to is connect the router's fiber port to the little box (provided the little box is the right little box, hence the request for a photo), turn on the router and open the setup link you should have received and follow the instructions. The setup link needs to be opened on a separate device like a smartphone with a SIM card.

Is the small box a black "Glasfasermodem 2" or the white Glasfaser-Dose?
If it is a Glasfasermodem 2, then the Speedport Smart 4 Plus (which also contains a fibre modem) would do the job but, as you already have an external modem, the cheaper Speedport Smart 4 would suffice. Maybe this is what the technician was referring to?

Hey there @adampretty,
just as @lejupp mentioned, please upload a photo of the fiber box that got installed by the technician. Afterwards it's much easier to assist you with the next steps. And I must admit that I'm also pretty curious, why the technician said the router wouldn't work with your contract. Since the Smart 4 Plus is especially designed for fiber optics, it's a top choice. :D
