Glassfiber Order Status - Gebäude angeschlossen - How to move this forward?

I have made an order for glass fiber connection over a year ago, and finally after some effort got the WEG to move forward with connecting the building etc. However, the status of the order is now "Gebäude angeschlossen". As I understand it, the building is now connected and the next step is to get a fiber optic point installed inside the apartment prior to provisioning the connection. Is this correct?

How can I get an update on when this can feasibly be done and is there are anything I can do from my side to speed this along?

      Hi @Inga Kristina J.

It was definitely a happy surprise when the notification came. Took the first available date. Fröhlich

Hopefully things are smooth from this point on.

I appreciate the work you and the team here have put in behind the scenes. Will keep you posted after the appointment on the 20th.

@Inga Kristina J. While I wait the installation of the cable into the apartment, I wanted to ask if I can change the plan to a 1000 Mbps plan. Or is it better to do so after the connection is in place so as to not disrupt any schedules. When I originally placed the order I opted for 500 Mbps.

Figured as much. Will do so after the connection is turned up.

      Thanks @Inga Kristina J.

@Inga Kristina J. I just received an email saying the appointment was cancelled. Can you please let me know why this is? This is really frustrating as I moved a lot of things around to be present.

      Hello @nulltermination,

thank you for the information. I just had a look. That's really strange.

Now it looks as if the owner of the house has withdrawn his approval to the installation.

I just commented our ticket and made an escalation to get an information about the background.

      Best regards Inga Kristina J.

@Christina P. Thank you getting back to me.

Because of this situation, it is very important that your landlord(s) contact the technical department for a new appointment. They have a special contact person for this.

Last conversation I had with the property manager, it seemed that they did not know who this contact in the technical department was. The only contact they are aware of the project manager for the glass fiber expansion - I am guessing this is not the right contact at this point. If you can DM me the details I can forward it along, unless you have already sent the details out to the property manager.

I should also point out, for your interest, that it seems that the WEG seemed to be under the impression that all the work inside the building will need to be organised, executed and paid for by the residents. This seems to be different to my understanding of the fiber expansion process.

Hey, if there's only been contact with the project manager so far, he might be the local contact. There should be documentation for that. We try to reach the homeowner/decision maker tomorrow to get the approval and contact us here again.

@Timur K. Based on the installation protocols, I think there has been a technician involved but I do not think the property manager has the contact.

Thanks for following up. Let me know where you get to. Please also clarify with them that telekom will do the work required in the interior of the building once approval is given.

      Hello @nulltermination,

the expansion partner will contact you again and make a new appointment. You should have received an email stating the reason for cancellation. Now nothing stands in the way of scheduling a new appointment.

      Kind regards

I spoke to the owner and everything should be fine now. The owner approved the order. Now the process should continue as usual.

@Belana M. Any updates on this? The owner did not seem to have an update on this and the project manager did not respond with a technical appointment.

What is the next step here? How can we speed this along?

I've spoken to the owner of the building. We have his approval. The next step is a new appointment. You will receive another mail with the option of choosing a new one.

We have to wait for the mail.

Hello @Belana M. Thanks for getting back to me promptly.

The last time the technicial cancelled the appoiment last minute. One of the residents mentioned that they did so because the current protocol could not be implemented due to space constraints in the current conduits. Can we please ensure that we do not end up having a repeat of this? Especially if a new protocol need t be made?

Hello @Belana M.  following up on this one, I still have not received any new information after your message. No request for appointment, no one has spoken to the property manager - nothing - zilch. Is there anything we can do here to get an update or move things along?

      Hello @nulltermination

I received feedback from my colleagues about your order. In your case, the reason for waiting is currently “sales advice necessary”. The problem is that the empty pipes on site are already full and there is no space for the necessary cables to get from the apartment to the connection point. The company doing the expansion has to consult again about how to proceed there. I've now asked again whether an approximate time estimate is already known.

I'm sorry that I don't have any better news. But I will keep you updated.

      Kind regards

Thanks for the update @Belana M. I appreciate you working hard to get this matter resolved.

For what it is worth, the pipe issue was know to Telekom since 15.11.2023 as per your contractors cancelling the installation appointments. So this has been known for over 2 months. Additionally, I should point out that this is a remarkable oversight by your vendors since they (or someone from Telekom) came on site on 27.06.2023, took pictures of the pipes and mapped out how all apartments in the building would be connected; but failed to notice the pipes did not have space? This is a rather glaring ineptitude on their behalf.

Further, can you please clarify what "sales advice" means in this context? I am a bit confused as why this is a sales matter .

      Hello @nulltermination,

I spoke to the owner on the phone today. The owner would like to carry out the final steps of the expansion, i.e. the paths from the basement to the apartments, himself via another company. He will request a cost estimate for this. If WEG does not agree to this plan, the owner will contact us again. If you have any further questions, please contact the owner, as he will now take care of the next steps.

      Kind regards,

      Belana M.

Hi @Belana M. Thank you for the update.

Out of curiosity, did the new plan proposed by Telekom require additional cost for execution? And was there a particular reason provided for the use of another contractor?

I'm asking since I want to preempt any cost related issues that might arise at the WEG meeting.

As per last information from the property manager, seems he is waiting for the next meeting to make the decision. So, this might not happen till after May :(.

      Hello @nulltermination

the owner did not like how the pipe would be laid, and it was not about costs. That's why he is hiring his own company.

      Kind regards
