Kannst nutzen was du wills, musst es nur einrichten können und er muss kompatibel sein zu deiner Anschlussart.

Im einfachsten Fall einfach gemäß Anleitung anschließen und abwarten.
Das kann aber je nach Modell abweichen, bedeutet wenn du uns nicht verrätst welches Routermodell du einsetzen möchtest kann dir hier niemand helfen.

Für GF, DSL oder Kabel?
Nimm einen Speedport oder einen von AVM (Fritzbox).
Wenn du schon einen hast, schaue in die Bedienungsanleitung,
Und hier im Forum wollen wir nicht rumraten, was du gerne möchtest, also bitte ein paar Infos mehr.

"Kaufen und anschließen" wäre die richtige Antwort. Ich vermute aber, wir kennen den eigentlichen Grund Deiner Frage noch nicht (siehe https://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=XY-Problem&oldid=247883734) und es wäre ratsam, wenn Du uns ein bisschen die Hintergründer erläuterst.

Bitte nicht falsch verstehen, wer solch eine Frage stellt, dem rate ich ab, einen eigenen Router außer einem Speedport, am Telekomanschluss zu verwenden.
Ich denke da an die Vorteile durch den Kundenservice und an EasyLogin.
Die Speedport Router kann man mieten oder kaufen.
