Refused phone contract because of PORTUGUESE nacionality
vor 2 Jahren
I live in Germany for three months now (having all the needed paperwork). I already tried TWO times to make a phone contract with Telekom and it has been an unacceptable experience!
For the first time I went to one of the Telekom stores, filled all the documents and waited about 15 minutes to get the "system answer". After a couple of minutes, the sales associated told me that I would need to pay 700 euros in advance for the phone that I wanted (the same phone was available online and at the store for the initial price of 1 euro). When I asked why I got a clear answer "Maybe it's because of your nationality?!" I was socked and left without the phone...
I decided to try again one month later, this time refusing to go to any physical store. I filled all the info, selected my nationality (again) and confirmed my identity. After that I got the error message attached in the screenshot (again the 500 euros?!). I went through the all the process again, this time selecting the German nationality. Worked without any problem!!!!!
Is this the normal behaviour for a germany company?
I already try to contact Telekom several times using different channels and got no answer!

"Maybe it's because of your nationality?!"
Good Morning,
first of all, dont take this personal, the shop worker probably didnt choose the correct Words to describe your Case, what he probably meant was the Fact that the Telekom and any other Company is free to ask for security reasons when some1 wants to make a contract with them.
In your Case the Telekom isnt sure that you are able to fulfill your contract due to the Fact that you are currently only living for 3 Months in germany, they simply dont have any Infos on your Person or your so called *Payment-Moral*.
This is a normal behaviour and happens to all Personalities where the Company isnt sure if the contract will last for at least 2 Years.
The Fact that they asked for an advance of Money is a complete normal behaviour reasoned in the Points i explained above,
long story short, if you want to make a contract you will have to pay the Money as a security Point.
Hope that explains it a little bit better for Your.
Cheers

Hello again, I'm following up on this situation. Almost 2 months passed since I opened this topic, but it seems the situation remains the same. I was deemed worthy to rent an apartment in this country but not worthy to do a smartphone contract? Can you please explain this situation to me? This is very annoying.
