TP-link AC 2300 setup with Glasfaser Modem 2
2 years ago
Hello, I am struggling since several days to setup my internet connection. I have the disadvantage of not speaking the German language so hotline support didn't work (although I managed to reach a service technician).
I have a modem installed by the Telekom technician, a Glasfaser Modem 2, and the router I want to connect is a TP-link AC 2300. I have the login credentials from Telekom (Zugangsnummer, Persönliches Kennwort), received by mail, but when setting the router with a PPPoE connection using the Zugangsnummer as Username and Persönliches Kennwort as Password the setup fails.

Do you get an installation link via SMS to finally setup your Glasfaser Modem with your GlasfaserID? And falshes the led on the glasfaser modem or Lights up permanently?

No, I didn't receive an installation link for the modem. I was told that all I need to do is to setup the router. The led on router is green continuously.

I am about to do the same setup (just with a different device) hopefully in the near future, so maybe I can help: it is not sufficient to enter "Zugangsnummer" in the PPPoE credentials step; instead you must append the fields "Anschlusskennung", "Zugangsnummer", and append "0001@t-online.de" (all without quotes). See here for the canonical thread in this forum with several examples: PPPOE Einwahl über einen Router herstellen. HTH!

I think it is a problem with the AC2300 emulator. I have no possibility for setting the VLAN ID. Further more I see for different types of TP-link routers are different emulators (https://emulator.tp-link.com/W9960v_Emulator/index.htm) providing the VLAN ID and possibility to insert:

Does that mean that AC2300 cannot be used with Telekom?
You may check if there is a submenu for IPTV settings, it might be that you find there a VLAN setting for internet connection as well.

Thank you all for your support, the issue is solved. The needed information was on telekomhilft, for username and password and on TP-link support for VLAN ID setup.
