Der Up Layer Indicator signalisiert die 5G Bereitschaft bei 5G-NSA vom Netz zum Endgerät.

Im Netz der Telekom in Deutschland wird bei 5G-NSA n78 Standorten der Up Layer Indicator gesetzt, während er bei 5G-NSA n1 dagegen nie gesetzt wird.

Bei gesetztem Up Layer Indicator zeigen z.B. Samsung 5G Geräte ein ausgegrautes 5G Icon, sofern keine 5G Verbindung besteht.
