Contract Cancellation due to Move ( no Telekom Cables in New place)
Dear Telekom Community,
I need to cancel my contract as I am moving. I went to the Telekom shop to make a moving contract with Telekom, but it happens that Telekom does not have new cables in this new address and the old cables can give only 16mbits/s speed of Internet. Hence the Telekom shop service guy asked me to cancel the contract. In the Kontakt form-there is no option for the 'Leitung unverfügbar' so I cannot cancel it there?
Can someone help here.
Many thanks in advance

As always with DT, there is a process that needs to be followed. In your case, it works as follows:
1. Call customer care at 0800/3301000 (good luck getting to an English speaking agent, better have somebody at hand who speaks German).
2. Tell them you want to move your contract to your new location according to TKG (Telekommunikationsgesetz or telecommunications act, §60 specifies that DT must let you go if they cannot provide the exact same service you have right now at your new location). Even if you already know that they cannot fulfill your request, you still need to ask for the move first. Don't ask for cancellation right away, it won't work.
3. Only after they officially tell you that the contract cannot be fulfilled at the new location you can ask for the contract to be terminated with one month notice.
The TKG has been updated effective December 1st, some customer care agents may still be on old information and will tell you that you can terminate the contract with three months notice. Kindly point them to § 60 of the current version of the TKG .
If you cannot make any progress with the hotline, let us know in this thread, I will then try to make the support team aware of this thread.
By the way, I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice. Do your own research before making any decisions.
