Internet crashes when hosting a server
Dear Telekom support,
Since 2-3 months, I'm experiencing a very annoying issue, as I use my internet for home office working on weekdays and I'm gaming with my wife and friends on the weekend.
Everytime that I try to host a game (private server) after some minutes (sometimes 1h, sometimes less) my internet crashes (disconnecting all devices in the house) and only comes back to normal operation after restarting the modem (sometimes only after a full factory reset).
Sporadically the issue also happens on working days while just browsing, working or have a meeting, which is very disturbing as well.
Although it happens 100% of the time every time that I try to host any game (tried 4-5 different games like: Counter-Strike, Age of Empires IV, Elden Ring, Wolcen, Battlefield 2042 etc. etc.) the same happens on all of them. If I just connect to a server I don't experience any issues.
As I mentioned, 2-3 months everything worked just fine, I even tried to format the PCs on the house (concerned if it could be some kind of malware), nothing seems to help.
See the error log below from this afternoon, it just crashes over and over until I restarted the modem.
Please help as I'm considering to switch the internet provider due to this issue, it's limiting my ability to enjoy a reliable internet to work and to have fun with my friends as well. Thank you!
PS: my suspicious are this is either a defective hardware (modem or router, or some weird telekom configuration/blocking)

Hi Rodrigo,
please tell us a bit more about your home network: What specific contract do you have with Deutsche Telekom? Which devices are connected to your SpeedPort Pro Plus, and how? Which fimrware version is installed on the router? Do you have other network equipment in use, e.g., repeaters oder Powerline ?
Best wishes,
Thomas

Hi there @Rodrigo Nunes,
First of all, congrats on your first activity in our forum
I am sure we'll be able to find a solution.
Please make sure to fill in all the required information in your profile in the telekom hilft community.
Furthermore, @teezeh already asked some crucial questions - Tell us a bit about your network.
I'd be happy to take a look myself in order to exclude any issues being traced back to our infrastructure. Afterwards we can have a chat about everything in your network.
Kind regards
Christian H.

Hi there @Rodrigo Nunes,
as mentioned on the phone, a technician will take a closer look on Thursday. I am positive he'll find a fix for the stated issue. Judging from the given information and the additional intel from our internal systems, it's likely the fiber optics modem is defective.
Please let us know after the appointment if the issue is still present.
Kind regards
Christian H.

Hi @Christian Ha. ,
Thanks for your support! The Telekom technician tested the LAN network and identified the issue with the network socket in the living room, it seems the device doesn't fully support the full connection speed and is causing all the crashing/low speeds issues.
I have contacted property management to get that fixed/replaced and as of now I put the router next to the modem in the separate room and I'm only using WiFi, everything is working normally, no more crashes or low speed as you can see in the latest tests below.
