TELECOM MAGENTA FIBER 50 und D-LINK DSL-3782

vor 5 Jahren

First of all, I want to apologize but I do not speak German so I must express myself in English.I recently installed a glass-fiber line in my apartment and I have plugged in my D-LINK DSL-3782 router to the Telekom box with a LAN cable. I follow the steps of the router's Wizard to set it up but for some reason the connection is not working. I am literally going crazy!

Find attached the details of the connection. Maybe someone can support. Thanks in advance.

First: Please remove the attached screenshot as it contains your personal ID, which should not be made public. Maybe you can upload a version with the ID made unreadable instead.

The configuration looks OK to me, in particular the often overlooked VLAN7 seems to be active.

There may be a problem with the user name you entered. However, credentials are not checked on new fiber and DSL connections, unless checking of credentials has been manually activated in DT's self service portal ("Kundencenter"). In case credential checking has been activated for your line, please see below:

The format Deutsche Telekom use for their PPPoe credentials is (weirdly) complex. On the letter you received from DT, the following numbers should be listed:

      - Zugangsnummer

      - Anschlusskennung

      - Mitbenutzernummer

Since your router does not seem to offer dedicated fields for these numbers, you need to puzzle together the PPPoE username from them. According to this website, it works as follows:

      AnschlusskennungZugangsnummer#Mitbenutzernummer@t-online.de

So your PPPoE username should look like this:

      00012345678955012345678#0001@t-online.de

The '#' sign between the Zugangsnummer and the Mitbenutzernummer must only be inserted if the Zugangsnummer is shorter than 12 digits.

No, sadly I am not in the position of testing with another router.

Do you think that if I buy a used Speedport W724v on Amazon (for less than 30 €) and simply plug it to the fiber modem, it will most probably work?

I will check the LED behavior on the fiber modem tonight and give you a feedback, I am not home right now. But I have been told by the DT technician that everything was all set during the fiber modem installation.

      Thanks

It should. The W724v is old but it was specifially designed to work with DT's fiber proposition. Just make sure you connect the fiber modem to the blue RJ45 socket on the router. See page 26 in the W724v manual for details.

By the way, there are quite a few offers with W724v for 10 or 15 Euros on http://ebay-kleinanzeigen.de (ebay classifieds).

I just bought a used Speedport W724v, should be delivered today. Hopefully it will work just by plugging it in.

Btw the LED on the fiberglass modem is steady (not blinking) like it should be. I will let you know how it goes. Thanks!

Hello @fedealbo and welcome to our community.

Please give us feedback, on whether or not the W724V is actually working or not.

      Kind regards Nico B.
