DSL socket doesn't have wires
vor 2 Jahren
Hello
I received the new Speedport Smart 4 Type A router recently. In this apartment this is the first time that we have a DSL connection. However I router cannot connect to the internet and the central LED keeps blinking yellow/orange. The DSL plug is connected to the center socket with 'F' written on it.
After waiting for sometime, I investigated a bit and found out that there are no wires connected to the middle socker (with F marking).
There are two such sockets in home but only one with 'N' 'F' 'N' written on them. The other one has 'T' symbol for Telekom and '1' symbol as well.
I have asked my landlord but he also doesn't know much about it. His idea is that the wiring is wrong but he is not sure. I'm wondering what the actual wiring on a DSL socket (with 'F' marking) should look like?
I tried contacting Telekom chat but nobody answered even after waiting for an hour. I still have 10days before 14days of withdrawal expires, so fingers crossed that it is resolved within this time.
Regards
Atin

Hi @atinjain , is your DSL-Contract running? Befor this date the connection will not work.
The wiring is fine, the wires must connect to PIN 1+2. You con also try the socket with the "T" the middle connector is "F"-coded.

@atinjain , you should take the green socket. The internel wiring of an TAE (DSL-socket) is not easy to explain. The signal comes into the TAE at PIN 1+2 , then to the left "N"-socket, the right "N"-socket and then to the middle "F"-socket, at the end the signal comes out of the TAE at the very right pins 5+6.

This is my first time getting a DSL connection in Germany. So if there are some idiosyncrasies of German contracts that I completely missed here, I request your patience.

All right, i will try my best to help you, but my english is is not.
You have more than one TAE in your home, that can (but must not) be the problem.
Does the Router work on the other TAE , with the "1"?

@atinjain
Can you show us a photograph from the TAE socket which is marked with "T" and "1." especially from the wiring?

Thanks @Sven Ö. , @NoOneElse and @Patti Müller for helping with the issue.
Today the Telekom Technician came and fixed the issue in less than half an hour. It was a wiring issue between the APL and socket in my apartment.
