Early termination of contract

A couple of months ago I made a big mistake by signing into a two year contract for home internet at a Telekom shop. The place I rented had problems and I had to find another place. The new place has internet included so I want to cancel my contract with Telekom. The person at the Telekom shop was not helpful at all. I am willing to pay a penalty to leave the contract. It's better than paying 22 months for a service I won't be using anyway. Is there a way to cancel the contract? I am very new to Germany and I really don't know where to get help with this. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @nmpk
this needs to be looked at by the Telekom support team, who need to know your customer ID ("Kundennummer", it is printed on your contact and your phone bills) to be able to find your file and they will also need to call you to verify that you are the actual owner of the account.
Hence, please enter your Kundennummer, phone number and a time frame during which you are available for a phone call in your community profile.
To be able to enter your data, you must first activate the button next to "ich erteile die Einwilligung...":
Please enter the custome ID under "Kundennumer", your phone number under "Handynummer" and and indication of when you're available under "weitere Informationen".
The data in the profile is only visible to employees of Deutsche Telekom, not to mere
peasantsmembers of the community like myself.2

I cancelled the contract to tomorrow now. The confirmation has been sent to you by email.
Also I changed your address, so that you'll get letters in case we'll send some to you.
As soon as the router gets back to us, it will be cancelled, too. It is possible that a replacement fee will be charged for the router.

Hi, can i use this thread to request assistance in canceling my DSL contract?
I have tried with the contact form, but unfortunately none of the options provided there is close to the reason i want to cancel it.
Unfortunately, i don't speak that well German to call the hotline and have the conversation.
My contract is about to expire in Dec 2024.

Hi Filip,
The Telekom hift Team helped me over phone and fortunately they provide service in English. What you need to do is to add your phone number and contact information and hopefully a representative will follow up with you. They did it very quickly and efficiently for me. Hopefully your case will be resolved soon!
