How to reactivate my Telecom prepaid cellphone sim phone number
2 years ago
Hello,
Sorry, I don't speak German. I have a cellphone with a Deutsche Telecom prepaid SIM that for some reason has recently been deactivated even though I believe it still had associated credit. I can also no longer see the information for this SIM phone number or recharge it via the MeinMagenta app that I can still successfully login to. How can I reactivate the SIM and get cellphone service going again for my cellphone number please?
Thanks.

Hello @Vardis
Welcome to the community.
The credit alone is not enough. To ensure that the prepaid card is not canceled, you have to top it up approximately every 12-15 months.
To request reactivation, you can also do this via chat. Click here per Chat,
This is possible for 112 days from the shutdown. After reactivation, at least €15 must be reloaded once.
The Telekom-hilft team can also help.
To do this, please fill out your profile completely. (-to profile- )
Sorry, I don't speak German.
That's no problem. Everyone is welcome here and there are also English-speaking teams.
Greetings Marcel

Many thanks, Marcel.
I see. I wasn't aware that credit to the prepaid needed be added periodically even if there was still some amount left. It has been a while since I added new credits my prepaid. Anyway, can you help me reactivate it please?
I have updated my profile information as requested with my account number and prepaid handy number.
Thanks in advance!

Hello @Vardis
Unfortunately I can't help because I'm just a customer and actively help other customers in the community.
A Telekom employee has the addition “Telekom-hilft-Team” under the nickname or avatar.
I have informed the team so that you can get help quickly. The team is here every day from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. If you haven't already done so, please enter the best time to reach you in the "More information" field in your profile.
Your prepaid number should be there in the field. There should be a number in the phone number field where you can still be reached. Alternative mobile number or landline number

that for some reason has recently been deactivated
Probably Telekom announced s.th. like 6 weeks earlier that Telekom will cancel the prepaid contract unless you do a recharge.
even though I believe it still had associated credit.
Trigger for cancellation of a Telekom prepaid contract is not the credit amount, but rather the question "how long since last recharge".
You can try to call the hotline 0800 33 02202 (hoping that the peson answering the call can speak English) or the have s.b. German speaking call the hotline in your presence, in order to reactivate the SIM. A subsequent recharge will be required. And for the phone call an authentication is required, the customer number will be asked.

Many thanks @Carolin L. .
I appreciate the call and your help! I have set up recurring payment via the MeineMagenta app which should address the requirement that credit needs to be added at least once per year and that of course a positive credit needs to be maintained.
Thanks again you and the community member @marcel2605 who put us in touch.
Best, Vardis
